The Motorcycle Safety Program (MSP) was established to teach riders of all skill levels the basic fundamentals needed in order to safely operate a motorcycle. The MSP was created from legislation in 1984 and began one year later. The Motorcycle Safety Program is free to all Pennsylvania license holders.

3 wheeled motorcycle owners: 3 wheel motorcycle specific introductory training is now available at three locations across the State. Click here for the location nearest you.

Classes begin to open for registration at the end of February. However, you need to check the "Open Date and Time" for the exact date and time each class opens.

To register, you will need:
(1) Valid PA Motorcycle Permit from the PA Department of Transportation. Click here for information

The Basic RiderCourse is designed to prepare riders for entry into the complex world of traffic. Course consists of 15 hours of classroom and riding instruction.

The Basic RiderCourse 2 was developed to address the skills needed for low risk, enjoyable on-street motorcycling. Course consists of 6 hours of riding instruction.

The 3WBRC is an entry-level, learn-to-ride training and education course that is taken on your own 3-wheeled motorcycle. Participants learn fundamental riding skills and safety strategies similar to what is provided in the MSF Basic RiderCourse, but on three wheels.

Attention! If you are planning to obtain your motorcycle permit, be sure to study first! The knowledge test is administered by PennDOT and is required before issuing a permit. You MUST have your permit to register for a class.
